ΜΟΥΣΙΚΕΣ ΕΚΠΟΜΠΕΣ ΣΤΑ ΜΕΣΑΙΑ ΚΥΜΑΤΑ

Για τους ακροατές των Μεσαίων Κυμάτων που διαμένουν στην Αττική  τρείς ενδιαφέρουσες συχνότητες

                      909 KHz  με Ελληνική λαϊκή μουσική.

                      828 KHz  με ξένη μουσική.

                      846 KHz  με ξένη μουσική.

Μόνο μουσική και τραγούδια, εξαιρετικές επιλογές προγράμματος,  καθαρό σήμα, ο χαρακτηριστικός απαλός ήχος των μεσαίων κυμάτων.

MEDIUM AND LONG WAVE ANTENNA BOOSTER

The following construction is an LC circuit, which will increase the signal strength of  MW and LW radio broadcasts.

Materials, you will need:

 

PVC tube about 25 cm long, of 4 cm diameter (Φ4cm).

 

Copper wire of 1mm diameter (Φ1mm).

Ten ferrite bars 20 cm long, of 1cm diameter (Φ1cm).

 

Place the ferrite bars inside the tube carefully, as they broke easily.

The coil consists of 40 turns. 

It is wounded in the middle of the tube.

More turns move the frequency range to 500 KHz, less to 1700 KHz.

Two holes needed to pass the wire inside the tube to the banana plugs.

The variable capacitor I used has got three sections. One section is enough for MW reception. All three sections connected, will tune the antenna down to 200 KHz. For reaching 150 KHz, an extra ceramic capacitor is necessary.Try different types of wire from the coil to the variable capacitor, as some wires will change the frequency range significantly.

The whole project is designed by Brazilian Dxers, and the above information found in Brazilian web sites, was in Portuguese. My experimentation refers to LW reception. All materials were available in the Greek market.

NIGHT VISITORS

Στης νύχτας, τη σιγαλιά …

Listening to the radio in the late hours of the day, outside the house, some uninvited visitors appear in the silence of the night. There is no exotic fauna in Attiki, just a few common little animals. (All photographs were taken with flash).

TIVOLI AUDIO - MODEL TWO

It has got very good audio. But poor AM performance, it is almost deaf. After some years of occasional use, it exhibits a lot of scratch in FM tuning, not affordable. It is difficult to tune to a specific station in the crowded FM band of Athens, because of something like a powerful old time AFC. It loses lock easily.  I don’t use it any more. Probably it is adequate now, for connecting an MP3 player to the auxiliary input. I think it is overestimated by audiophile reviewers, probably for its good speakers and finish. Overpriced too ( 319 Euros in the local market, about 465 US Dollars).

TIVOLI - MODEL TWO

Dual ferrite LW - MW active antenna

Very good antenna, made in Denmark, that covers both LW and MW. It is broadband, so there is no need to tune. It appears to be equivalent to random wire up to 20m or 30m long. Rotating this round plate you aim to the direction you wish to receive. Directivity is its main advantage. Better performance during day time in MW, excellent in LW at night. A drawback is the need for 220 V, unless you connect a 24 V battery, a bit inconvenient. Still superb after more then 20 years of use.

Although designed for a hi-fi system, it is a dx tool.

 

Listening to Thessaloniki Radio "ΠΟΛΙΤΙΣΜΟΣ", on 1179 KHz, during summer in Nea Makri, Attiki, at mid day. Roadstar should be parallel to the diameter of the B & O antenna, but not necessary for that signal strength.
